- Tenders are invited for Consultancy Service on External Evaluation for Building Resilience through Initiatives Defining Growth Potential of Economic Solution for Syrians in T. As the world's largest refugee-hosting country, Turkey currently hosts more than 4 million refugees and asylum seekers. While the majority of refugees remain Syrian (over 3.6 million registered as of February 2019), the country also hosts a significant number of refugees (over 300,000) from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Somalia, and 60 other nationalities. Since March 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic and measures to contain the spread of the virus has had a profound impact on the economy of Turkey and the livelihoods of refugees and host communities alike, pushing more people into poverty and exacerbating pre-existing vulnerabilities. DRC has been active in Turkey since 2013 with the aim to enhance the capacities and self-reliance of refugees and vulnerable host communities affected by displacement. DRC implements an economic recovery program in the southeastern provinces of Turkey with support from KfW, Danida, and SDC. Economic Recovery programming refers to the set of activities that DRC provides to vulnerable people following a crisis or a shock towards recovering and protecting their economic wellbeing. At the global level, DRC envisions all conflict and displacement-affected households in its countries of operation are able to achieve economic well-being, being self-reliant and resilient to shocks as part of achieving a durable solution. In the Middle East, DRC-s approach to contributing to this global vision is to increasingly consider systems of actors that can be used, supported, or developed so as to provide holistic, people-centered interventions that promote self-reliance for displacement-affected populations.
