  • Description :
  • Introduction: The International Finance Corporation (IFC) isseeking expressions of interest from qualified consultants (firm) to develop amodel for delivering a sustainable, affordable, and reliable heating andcooling system in Turkiye using 5th Generation Networked Ground Source HeatPumps (NGSHP) technology. Background: Heating and cooling are critical components ofglobal energy consumption, representing approximately half of the total finalenergy use. This sector surpasses both electricity and transport in terms ofenergy demand and is a significant contributor to energy-related CO2 emissions. The majority of heat production originates from fossil fuels, alongside aportion coming from unsustainable biomass sources. Despite a decline inthe reliance on fossil fuels for heat generation, the sector remains a majorconcern for environmental sustainability.Turkiye has a complex energy landscape, characterized by ahigh dependency on imported fossil fuels, rising energy demands, and urgentneed for decarbonization.5th Generation Networked Ground Source Heat Pumps (NGSHP)are innovative heating and cooling systems that use low-temperature groundloops shared among multiple buildings. Unlike earlier systems, they operate atambient temperatures, reducing thermal losses and requiring minimal energy fortemperature adjustments. Their efficiency lies in harnessing renewable thermalenergy, decentralizing heating and cooling, and enabling simultaneous heatingand cooling exchanges between buildings. This approach minimizes energy waste, cuts carbon emissions, and reduces operational costs.IFC is developing a project aimed at creating a modelto deliver a sustainable, affordable and reliable heating and coolingsystem in Turkiye using NGSHP for heating and cooling.Project Scope: The project will be executed in phases, withPhase 1 focusing on the development of a work package that provides afeasibility analysis and identification of potential sites for the deploymentof a utility-scale (3,000-3...
